pumpkin pickin'

Took our yearly trek to Down on the Farm. We had a great time picking our pumpkins and playing on the farm. The latest addition of the corn cannon was a big hit (but sadly no pics for that)

Saved one for carving. I'm really digging Cassy's eyeball. Westley did the face on the left.

Buttercup sure is getting tall.

But Westley is giving Buttercup a run for her money.

Ayieee! Watch out for the giant spider! (the dust in their wake is cracking me up)

Misc Fun!

Since I haven't updated since last winter, I put this hodgepodge together of our summer and the beginnings of fall. No particular order...

Westley was super duper excited about his birthday fried egg before school.

Outside the Hard Rock Cafe in Niagara.

Great Grandma's 90th birthday. She's still swingin'!

And giving joy to others.

Hanging with Aunt Lisa.

Cousins!

Peekyboo.

Niagara!

1st day of Kindergarten.

Just a lounging.

Soccer practice.

Beatles Rock Band.

My friend Elle and I took a retreat in the mountains called Woodsy Women Weekend at Paradise Cabins in Blairsville, GA.

Appalachian Trail.

Fair Winnings

Both of the kids made entries in this year's fair. Buttercup entered 2 photographs and won 2nd (for B&W photo not featured here) and 6th place for the photo below (yellow flowers).

Westley entered a gourd, birdhouse, watercolor, and pencil drawing.

He won 2nd place for the water color and 1st place for the pencil drawing. Go little man!

We're beaming with pride at our budding artists!

County Fair

We had lots of fun at this year's VFW Dekalb County Fair.

Introducing Halley...

Westley and I met Halley on the way home from soccer one evening a few weeks ago. She was very hungry and dirty and had lots of itchies. We've been nursing her back to health. The vet gave her a clean bill of health just 8 days after we took her home. She's made a comfortable spot on our hearts.

She's some mix of mostly unknowns. The vet thinks she has some bull in her. You can really see it in her jaw and hind legs. She is so sweet and loves to cuddle. She's spent a lot of time with the boy hiking up and down the mountain. We called her, "Doggie," for several days until Buttercup dubbed her Halley (like the comet).

The older doggies are adjusting. Well, tolerating. Mostly.
